Overview

A global FMCG brand partnered with TechWish to build a unified analytics dashboard, enhancing real-time visibility, accelerating data consolidation, and enabling accurate, scalable, and self-service insights across geographies.

The Challenge

The clients’ existing Reporting system was unable to provide complete automated data visibility. There was no single source of the truth and visibility of current inventory levels across the geographies. There were scaling issues as per business dynamics (Unified, faster, accurate, reliable, and user-friendly). Also, it was taking a longer data consolidation process to produce business metrics of Sales Performance, Inventory and Marketing data. It had a Complex BI schematic layer delaying report/dashboard rendering, Inefficient data lineage, and Low BI ROI.

The Solution

We consolidated data from multiple source systems, including spatial data. Our technical team designed a scalable data architecture, automation workflows, and storage objects such as materialized views and Parquet files. A unified and efficient schematic layer (Business Schema) was built to integrate the various data sources seamlessly. The team also conceptualized dashboards to deliver timely and faster insights, enabling tracking of global performance, marketing campaign effectiveness, inventory summaries, and more. Additionally, we implemented single sign-on (SSO) and row-level security features to enhance data access and governance.

Following the Agile methodology, a team of eight members—including five data engineers, one Product Owner (PO), one Project Manager (PM), and one ETL specialist—worked in two-week sprint cycles. Leveraging a technology stack comprising SQL, PySpark, Databricks, and ETL tools, the team efficiently managed data, performed transformations, and applied advanced analytics to deliver high-quality, impactful solutions.

The Result

We were able to deliver a 360-degree view of business data on time, faster data integration, consolidation, transformation, and ingestion. It significantly reduced the efforts for traditional data warehouse requirements. The solution provided higher return on BI Investments, delivered data governance requirements, Enabled faster, efficient, accurate, secure and self-service business insights. This also helped in ingesting accurate real-time data for Operational Analytics.
